As part of the 2007-2013 Italy Switzerland cross-border cooperation project “Lago Maggiore Meeting Industry: Green Meeting by the blue-waters lake” – led by the Verbano Cusio Ossola Chamber of Commerce – the first press tour for the Lago Maggiore Meeting Industry destination was held on 19th and 20th June: journalists from Italian publications dealing with conference tourism were invited to visit our territory and get a taste for what the Lago Maggiore Meeting Industry destination has to offer.
Journalists from Quality Travel / The Travel News, Meeting e Congressi/Incentivare, E20 / Nuova Comunicazione, BE-MA Editrice and Italia Convention were able to visit our territory and discover the conference and meeting facilities available – about 400 hotels and 500 conference and meeting rooms capable of seating a total of almost 50,000 people within the provinces of Varese, Novara, Verbano Cusio Ossola and Canton Ticino – meeting some of the operators from the “Lago Maggiore Meeting Industry” destination.
The press tour also included a visit to the Grand Hotel Majestic, Velasco Vitali’s artistic project in the grounds of the hotel, the Isola Madre and Grand Hotel Dino’s conference centre. The day ended with a dinner created using local produce, during which the journalists were able to discuss the contents and actions of the Green Meeting project in greater detail. The following day the journalists were accompanied on a visit to some of the hotels in Stresa, in particular the Regina Palace Hotel with its new, large Conference Hall, over 600 square metres in size, recently opened, finely decorated and equipped with all of the services needed to accommodate more than 650 people and the Grand Hotel Des Iles Borromeés, which this year celebrates the 150th anniversary from the day it opened on 21st March 1863. The visit to Stresa ended with a beautiful view of the Gulf of Borromeo, which can be admired from Hotel La Palma’s Sky Bar.
At the end of the morning the delegation of journalists proceeded to Oleggio Castello for lunch and a tour of Castello dal Pozzo, followed by a visit to Rocca Borromeo and Angera.
The last stop before returning to Milan was a visit to Malpensafiere, where Promovarese also gave a detailed presentation of the Ville Ponti Congress Centre.
Castello Dal Pozzo is proud to announce that it has been awarded the 2013 Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor and would like to thank all of their guests who helped them win this award by sharing a review of their stay.
The Certificate of Excellence celebrates the hospitality industry and is only awarded to businesses that consistently receive excellent traveller reviews on TripAdvisor. Only 10% of the best establishments listed on the website are honoured with this prestigious award, making them the most highly regarded in the world. To qualify for the award they must consistently receive very high scores: they must maintain an overall score equal to or greater than 4 out of 5 and must have been listed on the website for at least 12 months. Another assessment criteria used is the number of reviews received over the last 12 months.
Another successful result for Castello Dal Pozzo, which also won the award in 2011 and 2012, the year in which it was ranked 5th out of the 25 best Italian hotels in the Luxury category of the Travellers’ Choice Award, another accolade from Trip Advisor. The Management and Staff wish to offer their most sincere thanks to all guests who once again made this success possible by leaving excellent reviews and positive comments.
